I really don't believe that any of this — the sale of our previous home and simultaneous purchase of our new one —could have happened without Wendi.

After just about every conversation with Wendi, we felt like our words didn’t quite allow us to thank her properly for all she had done. It is the same with this review, we don’t think we can adequately convey what a gift she is, but we can share a little about our experience. Wendi is at the top of her game. We found out about her through an impassioned referral, and when we visited her website and read her bio we were blown away by who she is as a professional and what she stands for as a person. After our first conversation with her, we rested assured that we’d found the person we wanted, and trusted, to represent us. She is as highly skilled a professional as you will find, and she is a kind-hearted person who genuinely cares about her clients. Communication with Wendi is a joy. She is accessible, friendly, knowledgeable, articulate, and honest. We were so grateful to have her at our side as we navigated the complexities of the market. She is very personable, easy to talk to, and provides valuable insights, wisdom, and perspective throughout the entire process. She is the kind of person who is not interested in a quick commission; rather, she is driven by the joy that clients feel when the right purchase presents itself. We felt completely at ease taking all the time in the world to find the right property, and Wendi is a no-pressure professional who always encouraged us to move at the pace that felt right to us. And when that perfect property presented itself, she was right there and she went after it for us in a way that left us feeling astounded by her skillfulness and precision. She certainly put her Master Certified Negotiation Expert credential to use for us. We were just in awe of her during the negotiation period. Every deal is different, but in our case, every single thing we wanted, Wendi got us. We felt lucky we didn’t have to negotiate against her! And Wendi’s commitment to us didn’t end at signing. She continues to be a valuable resource as questions come up and as we’re faced with unfamiliar aspects of owning real estate. Plus, getting to donate a portion of the sale to the charity of our choice was an added delight and is indicative of the content of Wendi’s character. In so many ways, big and small, Wendi earned our respect, admiration, friendship, and highest possible recommendation.

The short version: Call Wendi. Thank you later. The long version: I met Wendi while working at Starbucks. I was working two jobs and trying to get ahead to purchase a home. She, of course, did not know this and was simply a regular who enjoyed her coffee with us a couple of times a week and would share pleasant small talk with me. Well, it took another year or so, but call her I did. She was great to work with both professionally and personally which is important. For those who don’t know you will spend lots of time with your agent. You want to have one who is fun and enjoyable to be around. She always had time for me and showed up for things she didn’t even need to be there for like the inspection of the home. Wendi was reliable, prompt, and never had anything else on her mind besides finding me the perfect home–which she did! Another bonus, she understands how frustrating and complicated the mortgage side can be and has gone out of her way to find some of the best brokers in town. You’ll be spending lots of time with them as well. Like Wendi, they’re great people who are great at their job and are pleasant to spend time with. Trust me, I have seen both sides on this one. Some brokers are trying to sell you. Some are trying to help you. It makes a big difference in both your experience and your bank account. Not sure if it’s kosher to mention, but Jack L., who is on this review page, was the guy who helped me. Very, very good guy. Thanks to Wendi, my wife and I found a home we love in an area we thought we couldn’t afford at a price well within our budget. We couldn’t be happier. Wendi Slaton Anderson started out as our agent, but, by the end, Wendi was a friend. Like I said before, call her and thank yourself later for making a great decision.

I think the best way to explain how great Wendi and the group at ROOTS is. I was actually a little sad the day our house sold. We got a great offer and a smooth transaction, but I was a little bummed because I knew I wouldn’t get to see or speak to her as often after the closing. Wendi helped me purchase my 1st home back in 2005 and now helped me sell a 2nd home in the same neighborhood. Having worked with her on both sides of the table, I can easily say that she knows her stuff! She provides outstanding service and professional expertise, while at the same time adding a personal touch that is not easy to find these days. She does this without effort though because really she honestly treats everyone as a personal friend and truly wants the best for her clients and community. Wendi donated a portion of her takeaway to a nonprofit of my choice! Of course, we all have to work to make money, and trust me Wendi works very hard for her piece of the pie. What is so refreshing though, is when you meet someone that puts family and people 1st, while still respecting the bottom line. She provided outstanding advice on what improvements were needed and was very diligent in her research. It can be tempting to say that Austin is a hot market and who needs a realtor, but the answer is you do, and you should look to Wendi and the ROOTS Residential Group to be your agent!

I mentioned in passing that we were looking for our next investment property and here we are, four months later, with a great new condo. She found an awesome property for us, but we were a little too slow with our offer on the first one. She said, No problem let’s find you another one! and she did. She was willing to bring any offer we wanted to the table, but when we asked for her advice, she knew exactly what we should offer and walked us through her reasoning step by step. She went above and beyond on our purchase! She is laid back, fun, and such an awesome person that you want to spend time with her, even if you’re just chatting while watching an inspector walk around the place. And as someone else commented on yelp, it’s nice to have a real estate agent you like to hang out with because you will be hanging out with them quite a bit! Wendi is super easy to work, smart, an awesome person, and she’ll negotiate aggressively on your behalf. Call her today even if you’re just starting to look and aren’t ready to purchase you will be happy you did.

I chose ROOTS Residential because, as most of their business is, I was referred by someone I trust. After researching many companies and realtors, Wendi Slaton Anderson stood out as the right fit for me and proved to be so in more ways than I could’ve known at the time. Originally, I was attracted to the award-winning, female-owned local business that gave back to non-profits with every sale. I thought I may have to sacrifice some perks of going with a big business, but I could not have been more wrong. Had it not been for Wendi and ROOTS, I likely would have overpaid for a subpar home in the excitement of becoming a first-time homebuyer. Luckily, I found ROOTS, Wendi, and most certainly what was always meant to be my home. Everyone deserves a home-buying experience that leaves you feeling as confident as I was able to feel about your decisions. I couldn’t recommend Wendi and ROOTS Residential highly enough.
